Hilma af Klint: In Search of the Invisible

Perhaps it all began on the island of Adelsöin Sweden where Hilma spent her summers, as a child, playing outside. Everything was crawling and wiggling: insects, birds, fish, leaves, flowers… with the clouds passing above, the wind in the trees, the waves breaking on the beach.
Back home in Stockholm, Hilma thinks about the future. About what she wants most of all: to draw nature. When she goes to art school, she must work precisely –must draw what exists. But Hilma hears, feels and sees more… in small artistic circles, in secret.
It would take more than a hundred years before the world discovered her ‘treasure for the future’. Her large abstract works were painted before the acclaimed artists Mondrian, Malevich and Kandinsky depicted pure forms.
